Support Soft Power Health

Soft Power Health depends on the generosity of individual donors and foundations to continue our work. Since 2002, Soft Power Health has given inner city kids hope through experience in new adventures, and has provided the children of Uganda power to maintain their well-being.

We had our first fundraiser on May 6th, 2004 at an art gallery in New York City. Enough money was raised to finance the education program for the fall of that year, and the construction of the rural clinic (now named the Allan Stone Community Health Clinic). However, in order to continue our important work, we need your support.

Please Help!  The 2008 Kids Kayaking Camp may be its last!

Why should you support the Ugandan population?

We understand that as an individual or the member of an organization you are asked frequently to give money. We know that it is important that your money is used wisely and effectively. One of the main strength of our program in Uganda is that there is very little lost of resources and that you can see clearly the result of your donation. We act directly on the ground with volunteers or paid Ugandan workers. We don't have to go through bribes or political contributions. Our operations are modest and low-key - we are not one of these organizations using brand new $30,000 4WD vehicles, or staying in fancy hotels with swimming pools, or buying high-tech equipment.

Your financial contribution can make a huge difference, with results that you can see immediately. You can be an actor in relieving one of the major burdens on the shoulder of Africans. Helping Ugandans and Africans get healthier is one of the most concrete things we can do to lift them out of poverty and to give them more opportunities in the world.

What your money buys in Uganda:
  • $2.86 = the salary of 1 malaria educator for 1 day
  • $4.85 = 1 course of malaria treatment
  • $6.50 = 1 long-lasting insecticide-treated net
  • $70.00 = 1 month supply of family planning and clean water treatment
  • $72.00 = the salary of 1 malaria educator for 1 month
  • $150.00 = the salary of 1 laboratory technician for 1 month
  • $170.00 = the salary of 1 nurse for 1 month
  • $205.00 = the salary of 1 doctor for 1 month
