Sharon's Story
Nakato Sharon is an inspiration.
In 2017, then 15-year-old Sharon was playing with a friend when a large jackfruit struck her head, knocking Sharon unconscious. Upon awakening, Sharon was disoriented and dazed. As she became more aware of her surroundings, Sharon was confused why she was unable to move her legs, arms or lift her head from the ground. The following day, doctors in Jinja hospital delivered the sobering news to her family: Sharon would be a lifelong quadriplegic.
Undeterred by that bleak assessment and aided by consistent weekly physical therapy with SPH's head physiotherapist Stephen Kato, in the two years since the accident Sharon has regained use of her upper body.
Looking to the future, Sharon has set her sights on finishing school and eventually becoming a nurse. We believe in Sharon...
